At each Showquest event we have a panel of three judges -

Production, Performance and Movement.


PRODUCTION

Engagement/Connection

How gripping is the theme? 

Does it keep your attention throughout the performance? 

Does it progress nicely? 

Are the performers working together as a team?

Props

Are props used effectively? 

Do they follow the guidelines?
**No more than 2m high, carried on and off stage by 1 student.

Wearable Art

Is wearable art included within the performance? If so, does it add to the overall storyline/theme?

Soundtrack

Does the soundtrack fit the theme?

Lighting

Is the lighting used effectively to enhance the story and performance?

LED video wall

Is the LED screen content engaging? Does it add to the performance?

Live Music

Is live music included within the performance? If so, are the transitions smooth and does it work with the storyline/theme?
**Live music can include a choir, band, solo musician, singer, spoken word poetry etc.


PERFORMANCE

Engagement/Connection

How gripping is the theme? 

Is it clear throughout the performance? 

Does it keep your attention throughout the performance? 

Does it progress nicely?

Performance Skills

Does the performance provoke emotion? 

Are the performers connecting with the audience? (i.e. facials, gasps, reaching out etc.)

Character

Are there clear character concepts?

Do these develop throughout the performance?

Props

Are props used effectively? 

Do they follow the guidelines? (No more than 2m high, carried on and off stage by 1 student)

Wearable Art

Is wearable art included within the performance? If so, does it add to the overall storyline/theme?


MOVEMENT

Choreography

Does the choreography match the music and theme? 

Are the performers all working as a team? 

Is it creative? Is it original?

Execution

How well is the choreography executed? 

Are the group’s movement in sync with each other and the music?

Stage Presence/Dramatic Movement

Does the performance provoke emotion? 

Are the performers connecting with the audience? (i.e. facials, gasps, reaching out etc.)

Soundtrack

Does the soundtrack fit the theme and performance?

Styling

Do the costumes/hair/makeup add to the performance? 

Does it look effective on stage? 

Is it creative?

Each judge also looks aT Overall impression - CULTURE, Creativity & Impact.
